when the sun was preparing to creep behind
those mountains
and
i was sprawled out on the bed hating
life
and
being sick.
when i catch the flu
i turn into the biggest sloppy baby and want
to be pampered.
we just need a little sympathy sometimes.
someone to rub our heads
hold our hand
and smile
to bring a little sunshine
into the shit-box.
i moved to the living room
laying on the carpet
as the sun warmed me through.
the simple pleasures
that are often overlooked.
i smiled up
as the dog came over to me
and licked the top of my head.
i smiled
because
sometimes, you just don't die.
